Somerville is now able to offer a limited number of pre-bookable, routine appointments outside normal working hours.

URGENT appointments are still available via GPOOH and the Walk in Centre at APH (678 8496) and the Walk in Centre at VCH (604 7296)

Practice nurses are highly skilled health care professionals and are gradually taking on more and more work that in the past was done by the doctor. Next time you need a consultation, consider whether you really need to see the doctor, or whether an appointment with the practice nurse would be more appropriate.

Somerville Slimmers [group sessions] – an eight week lifestyle & weight management course which includes an initial health check followed by sessions to give help and encouragement to improve your lifestyle.  Ask one of the practice nurses. Monday 6:00pm or Thursday 10:30am for approximately 45mins. 

Supporting the medical team in the care of the housebound is the District Nurse Team. 


Sick Notes

Self-certification notes are available in reception, these cover you for your first week of absence from work. If your period of absence exceeds one week, please contact reception to request a doctor’s note. You may be asked to come in and see the doctor.


Fees

Fees are incurred for services not covered by the NHS. These include some sick notes, insurance forms and driving medicals.  


Chaperone

During your consultation, it may be necessary for you to be examined. If you wish to be accompanied, you can either bring a friend or relative or ask for a member of the nursing staff to be present. Please inform the doctor of your wishes in this respect.
