Update on measles outbreak declared on Merseyside

A measles outbreak has been declared on Merseyside. There are 13 confirmed and 16 suspected cases ranging in age from nine months to adults aged in their 20s. Six people, four children and two adults, required treatment in hospital. This compares to just one confirmed case on Merseyside in the first six weeks of 2011 and one in the corresponding period of 2010.

Update on Legionnaires’ Cluster Associated with a Hotel in Spain

10 February 2012, 1400hrs. The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has this week been alerted by the Spanish public health authorities about a further case of Legionnaires’ Disease in a UK resident who stayed at the Diamante Beach Hotel in Calpe, Costa Blanca, as well as two French cases. This brings the total number of UK residents associated with this cluster to 12, with three deaths.

Welcome to Somerville Medical Centre

Somerville is a purpose built two storey building with ample patient parking facilities and disabled access, situated on Gorsey Lane close to the Wallasey Kingsway tunnel entrance. Somerville Pharmacy is also located on the site for the convenience of the patients and public.

Disabled access to all facilities on both floors there is a lift to the first floor. Baby changing facilities are available in the toilets on the ground floor.

GROUND FLOOR: Main reception, six doctors and five nurse consulting rooms.

FIRST FLOOR: Meeting/training room, six clinical rooms, one counselling room, minor surgery suite and four admin rooms.

Specialised clinics supplied by outside service providers for example – midwifery, physiotherapy, phlebotomy, counselling, audiology, drugs clinic, alcohol clinic, smoking cessation, CAB, bereavement counselling (arranged through Age Concern), dermatology and musculoskeletal injuries. Supporting the medical team in the care of the housebound is the District Nurse Team.
